Investigations

Testing and investigation plays a vital part in diagnosing cancer, and once the results are confirmed, they will enable your Consultant to plan your treatment.
Tests may be arranged by your Consultant as part of your outpatient consultation. Further tests will be organised to coincide with your planned visits for treatment, either as an inpatient or a day case patient.
At London Bridge Hospital, we have the facilities to carry out a wide variety of tests, including:
CT scans
Mammograms
MRI scans
Nuclear Medicine
Plain imaging
Ultrasound
We have access to a wide range of state-of-the-art scanning equipment, including a PET CT scanner, across all of HCA’s world-leading hospitals.
Samples taken from patients (blood, biopsies, aspirates, etc) are analysed in our state-of-the-art on-site laboratory by our highly qualified Pathology Team.
For individuals and families concerned about the risk of inherited cancer, we offer a revolutionary genetic screening service.
Procedure for tests and investigations
All tests are carried out on-site, within the various departments of the hospital. We will book your test(s) and ensure that you know which department(s) you will need to go to, making the process as smooth as possible.
Your Consultant or nurse will be happy to explain the reasons for the test, what is involved (including any special preparation), how long it will take and any other information that you need to be aware of. In most cases, the test results will be discussed with you at a follow-up outpatient appointment. Occasionally, this consultation may take place over the telephone.
Before we proceed with any testing, we will always obtain your consent before going ahead.
